چکیده

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a systematic evaluation of the potential environmental impact and resource utilization of a product from raw material through disposal. Underlying the LCA is the Life Cycle Inventory or LCI, a quantification of energy and material inputs and environmental release or emissions data associated with product creation and use. The primary purpose of this project was to provide robust and up-to-date LCI data for global cotton fibre production and textile manufacturing so that cotton is accurately represented in LCAs. A secondary objective was to use the LCI data to conduct a cradle-to-grave LCA of a hypothetical knit shirt and woven pant to better understand all aspects of the environmental impact of cotton textiles so the cotton industry can target research and resources to reduce future impacts.

A Fuzzy AHP-TOPSIS Framework for the Risk Assessment of Green Supply Chain Implementation in the Textile Industry

In the emerging supply chain environment, green supply chain risk management plays a significant role than ever. Risk is an inherent uncertainty and has tendency to disrupt the typical green supply chain management (GSCM) operations and eventually reduce the success rate of industries. In order to mitigate the consequences, a fuzzy multi-criteria group decision making modeling (FMCGDM) which co...

Analytical Modeling of Specific Energy Consumption and Cost Share in Comprehensive Textile Industry: Case Study of Ethiopia

Energy is one of the primary inputs in textile processing industries that have a significant impact on the cost of a cotton product. The energy cost-share is reported between 5-10% of the total production cost of woven cotton fabric in textile factories of developed countries. However, it is far higher in developing countries. This study aims to contribute to the understanding of energy use and...

An Improvement in Fluorocarbon Chain Re-orientation by Reactive Dyes

There is an increasing demand for air-dry performance of fluorocarbon finished materials. Thus, dyeing with different types of reactive, mono, bi, and multi-functional, dyes was evaluated as a novel treatment to create correct surface interface to maintain fluorocarbon performance without ironing or tumble drying. The effects of pre-treatment on fluorocarbon finishing of cotton fabric, a cellul...

Mortality of employees of two cotton mills in North Carolina.

Carl Ortmeyer, Ph.D. A lthough respiratory morbidity associated with exposure to cotton dust in the primary textile industry has been extensively studied and documented, relatively little research has been directed toward assessment of morbidity and mortality of former cotton textile workers. There are frequent anecdotal references to early retirement and death in the early literature on cotton...
